Hoegh Osaka souvenirs: in the Pinkeye gift shop now!

By 12th January 2015No Comments

On 3 January 2015, the car carrier Hoegh Osaka was deliberately grounded on the Brambles Bank in the Solent after developing a severe list. Thankfully the members of the crew were rescued unharmed, although the boat is still awaiting salvage.

The spectacle of this vast ship, lying on its side off Cowes, quickly became the subject of lampoonery on the Isle of Wight, with animations, cheeky satirical tweets and Lego reconstructions of the stricken vessel.

Inspired by the text of our friend Mandolin Wanker‘s tweet “I came to Cowes and all I got was tugged off…”, Cat fired up Illustrator to create a commemorative design.
